Evangelical pastors lead survivor settlements outside Haitian capital

QUOTE: " The only authority here is God." —Alfred Amos, speaking from one of the many developing settlements on the outskirts Port-au-Prince, Haiti, led by evangelical pastors. As the crowded streets of the Haitian capital continue to provide inadequate shelter and relief supplies, more quake victims are migrating outside the city to the surrounding areas, which are only mildly better. Most of the leaders in these new settlements are pastors. Amos' statement reflects frustration with the Haitian government, which is trying to limit the number of spontaneous settlements in the area, but which is also struggling to provide relief supplies and support.
